Eat Your Heart Out!

Mt. Jefferson

Carl Lake

Our good friend, Lee Jacobson, bathing in ice cold water.

When it isn't raining, you can't beat camping or backpacking in the Great Northwest. I took advantage of being self employed and took off work Sep. 3-5 and spent the three days backpacking into Carl Lake on the east side of Mt. Jefferson in the Cascades of Oregon with a group of friends from church. It was great. We caught a bunch of trout and had a fish fry on Friday night. We hiked to the top of the world. I slept out under the stars. We enjoyed gourmet meals and great discussions around the campfire. Enjoy the pictures. Matthew may remember this lake. He has hiked into this lake on two previous occasions where he did a survival camp and where he did the cooking for Lee and I. Is this another piece of banana chocolate cake?

There is NO WAY you would ever get me in that ice cold water! The scenery is stunningly beautiful. And to camp out under the stars sounds nice. I did that one time. When I was a sophomore in high school and living in Singapore, part of our class traveled to Australia. We cycled around the Fremantle/Perth area and camped out under the stars. It was amazing! I have done something like that since that trip, but I don't know if I'd want to do that with kids. Ha!
